Booze and Baking

There are occasionally times in life when baking and beer drinking trumps a workout.  Balance is the key to life after all. 🙂

I knew my workout was in jeopardy when it kept getting pushed back later and later in the day.  And then there was the mandatory business lunch. 😉

Technically there was time for both a workout and muffin making but sometimes you must seize the moment when the inspiration hits you.

So I baked.  And drank.  Not to drink a cold beer on a 75* Friday afternoon in February seemed wrong.

Chai Spice

These muffins were born out of a yogurt flop.  A few days ago I attempted to make a chai spice yogurt by throwing some chai tea bags, spices, and stevia into the milk as it heated.  I used my trusty yogurt maker but the results were…laughable drinkable.  Not the way I like my yogurt.

Into the batter it went.  Sadly, this yogurt must be cursed because the muffins didn’t turn out great either. 😦

Too dry and, gasp, a little too much cardamom.  (I love cardamom so I wasn’t sure that was possible)

These babies are a different story though

Peanut Butter Stuffed Banana Bran

Whole wheat, banana sweetened goodness. ♥

They are stuffed with a little blob of whipped banana peanut butter, a mini stroke of genius on my part if I do say so myself.   I will share the details soon, promise.

Four dozen muffins, check.  I think we’re ready!

The best part of skipping yesterday’s workout?

I am SO looking forward to my run this morning!

It’s going to be grand.

I love the idea of the kefir soda…can you use the same bacteria that is used to make yogurt? I have tons of kefir globules I make yogurt with, and would love to try this soda!

    • The water kefir grains (bacteria) are slightly different than the milk ones. Apparently you can put the milk ones in sugar water and they will probably work but they will die after a few batches rather than multiply. Water kefir grains can be purchased online at Cultures For Health and if you take care of them they will always multiply (so you have lots to give away!) and live forever.

  8. Good luck with the business opening!
