Destination: Downtown

I eventually did get out of bed this morning. 🙂  And out the door we went!

It was a total winter wonderland!

We walked to the Downtown Mall to run some errands and see if the town was still operating.  Along the way we got a little extra cardio in by giving a stuck car a push up the hill! I was very grateful that I didn’t have to be anywhere today.

The Mall was quieter than usual but most businesses were open.

We then decided to walk to Matt and Kath‘s a couple miles away.  A few blocks before we reached their house we ran walked into them, all suited up and headed downtown for lunch.  So we went back downtown!

We ate at Eppie’s, a pay-at-the-counter lunch spot that I have been wanting to try since we moved here.  After being obsessed with soup for weeks I actually was craving a salad on this snowy day.

Check out the Collard greens and mac n’ cheese in the background, they came with Tate’s lunch but lucky for me, he’s a good sharer. Yum!

After 6.5 miles of urban hiking and lunching we headed home for some R&R and work.  Just before dusk we wanted a little more snow action and went back out for Downtown Mall walk Round 3.   Whew!  We covered over 9 miles todays!  It was good for my spirits to spend so much time outside, even if it was (below) freezing and sometimes slippery.

Since I committed to yoga this morning I did this 20 minute routine.  I was only lukewarm about the sequence and instruction but it was just the right thing to stretch out my walking muscles.

How did your workout go today? Running? Tae Bo? I want to hear all about it!

I’m off to eat some soup. 😉

  1. LOOOOVE the second shot of downtown!!! So cozy!!

Can’t believe you guys walked more. I guessed we walked about 6 miles too!

  2. What a great workout! I can’t motivate myself to get outside when it’s that cold. The picture of downtown is beautiful.

  3. I had to get out early this morning in 4 inches of snow, the roads were horrible. So during the time spent at work, I was sulking that I was not at home enjoying the snow 🙂 This afternoon I took my two shar-peis out for a long walk in the snow and they loved it! And I loved seeing them bury their faces in the white powder too!

  4. That downtown picture is gorgeous.

  5. That mac n cheese looks good. I could go for that!

  6. I ran six miles with my husband rather than our planned four. We were having such a great time and the weather was perfect so we kept running.
My evening exercise TV plans got lost in holiday events.
