Munchy Brunchy

Sunday brunch :).

My best frittata yet!

This baby was full of local eggs, onions, zucchini, mushrooms, Twin Oaks soysauge, nutmeg, and smoked paprika.

The food was delicious but the company was superb. Our friends Anna, Chase, and baby Arlie joined us for this spread.  I love the brunch party, I think we are going to start having them more often, image the delicious potential of a brunch potluck!

The theme of the weekend seems to be sharing food with friends, this was our third meal with friends of the weekend!  Love it!

Gym Update: I had the best time in a Pilates Reformer class yesterday!  I LOVE THE REFORMER but haven’t been on one since 2005 because of the high cost of lessons.  I still can’t believe that these classes are included in regular membership at ACAC, it’s pretty ridiculous.   Bring on 3x a week reformer classes!

If money is not an object I highly recommend getting yourself to a reformer lesson, it will do amazing things for your body.

Kefir Soda Update: WOW it’s delicious!  My first batch is fizzy and sooo good.  It is sweet, mildly grapey, and just the faintest hint fermented (think yeast, like beer, but very slight).

Kefir Water Soda has excellent benefits (besides being a super tasty, natural refreshment!)

  • Probiotics
  • Minerals including Potassium and chloride
  • High in vitamins B1, B6, B12

I shared some with Anna this morning and she was instantly converted into a Kefir Soda lover too!  She also brought me some vanilla from her recent trip to Mexico so my next batch is going to be a cream soda!  Mmmmmm

Anyone know what this contraption is used for?

If you guessed that it’s my new yogurt maker you’re invited to my next brunch party!

While in my friend Jessica‘s kitchen last night I spotted this baby sitting high atop the cabinets.  Jessica is dairy-free these days after realizing she’s intolerant so she gave the yogurt maker to me.  And made my night!

To be honest, my kitchen sink method has been producing really inconsistent results, I think because my kitchen is so cold.  I even looked at buying a yogurt maker but couldn’t bring myself to bring another appliance into our tiny kitchen.  But when it was handed to me by a dear friend it seemed meant to be :).

Time to go to the gym and burn off some of the coffee energy I have pulsing through me!

Zumba Zoo

I am super anxious to break into my grape soda stash but I think I need to wait a day or two for the carbonation to build up. 😦

The gym has been providing all kinds of entertainment this week, I’m loving it!  I’ve gone to

2 yoga classes you can read about Monday’s class here.  Yesterday’s class was the same teacher (who will remain unnamed).  She seemed a little more together but the best part of the class was that Tate came too!  And I didn’t even invite him, he just said “hey, I think I’ll come to yoga with you this afternoon”.  He loved the class, said it was his favorite yoga class ever.  It just goes to show that a. that most teachers you don’t like aren’t bad they just aren’t your style and b. I am a super harsh critic of teachers.

Step xpress step makes me feel anything but graceful!  And I used to teach it!  My classes weren’t full-on step though, they were 3 minutes of step with weights mixed with straight strength training.  We would basically do the same 2 moves for three minutes (much harder and more fun than it sounds!).  The few times I subbed a “real” step class I bombed.

ZUMBA! I have a mixed relationship with Zumba, I totally love the idea of it, a lot of the music, and most of the steps.  I don’t love a lot of the teachers.  I know, I know, I am harsh.  My Wednesday night class was fun, the teacher was good but she lacked a certain enthusiasm that really took it to the next level.  Harsh.  The class was packed though, it was a Zumba ZOO in there!

Today I am excited to go to a mat Pilates class and tomorrow I am going to start on the reformer.  Can you believe that ACAC has reformer classes included in it’s regular membership?  It’s ridiculous.

Reformer lessons in a small group start at around $30 an hour.  This makes the hefty monthly ACAC fees seem a little less…hefty.  (I haven’t gotten a price quote from the gym but I’ve heard it’s $80-100 a month.)  I paid $40 for my month at the silent auction and that included a two week pass for Tate (which he is loving).

I love working on the Pilates reformer but haven’t had a chance to since college when we had them in the dance department and were required to workout on them.  The plan is to take full advantage of the ACAC classes over the next month :).

Have you Zumba’d?

ARGH! I have a long to-do list but not the motivation to tackle it!

that motivation must be around here somewhere…
