Fall is in the Air

I woke up this morning to the leaves blowing and the scent of fall in the air. Yum!  I missed fall last year (Lima has 2-3 months of summer and 9-10 months of fog and chill) and have been looking forward to it for a few months now.

It seemed like the perfect morning to head to the market.

Love this amazing wood tub! And fill it full of winter squash and I am head over heels!

Into the bag went over 7 pounds of squash plus this beauty

And pie I will make!  This sucker weighs over 6 pounds, I think a few pies may be in order.

We also bought some shiitake mushrooms and promptly turned them into lunch.

Behold, gluten-free crust piled high with fresh tomatoes, sauteed red onions, shiitakes, and crook-neck squash, topped with feta and eXtra sharp cheddar. SO AMAZING.

I am not gluten-free but I had a leftover crust from Thursday, when I made dinner for my Tate’s brother and his wife (and their brand-new bitty baby!).  I used a mix and it was easy and turned out tasty.

Today’s workout featured this little present I got myself a few days ago.

I was attracted to this dvd because it features three 20 minute workouts, each with upper and lower body strength training, cardio, and abs.  Today I did the level one and it was great.  Simple but challenging.  I am looking forward to checking out levels 2 and 3.  Tate and I went for a 25 minute slow run afterward.  I really wasn’t in to mood for yoga so instead I did a long and deep stretching session.  Just what I need after 8 hours in the truck yesterday!

By Tuesday we should be full on homeowners and residents of Charlottesville!

Any extra special plans for the long weekend?  It’s my last weekend and so I plan to live it up by spending time at my mom’s, my dad’s, Tate’s mom’s, and Tate’s dad’s.  Yowza, that’s a lot of running around!  (But they’re all SO worth it 🙂 )

Moving Day

Oh boy, today is going to be a long one.

The alarm is set for 7:15am but Tate was up at 6:30 “too excited to sleep, it’s like Christmas morning”.  And he wanted to talk about truck packing strategies at that hour.  Just. A. Few. More. Minutes. Sleep.  I certainly appreciate his enthusiasm though ;).

And now I am up, slurping coffee from my new china

My two sisters, niece, and I hit the thrift stores yesterday and I walked away with a set of 4 of this china (much prettier in real life than this poor picture!) and 2 dresses for a whopping $3.90 total.  West Virginia is cheap, I will give it that.

I almost took yesterday as a rest day but at the last minute (actually 6:50pm) my brother and I jogged up to the track and did a fast and furious 25 minute workout.  10 minute warm-up, 10 minutes of sprints, 5 minute cool-down and home just as the enchiladas were coming out of the oven :).  Ben is really fast but he doesn’t have great endurance so we compliment each other well (he’s a quintessential 18 year old boy, runs hard and fast until he can’t anymore!  Pacing oneself comes a bit later in life…).

My 4 runs this week were “supposed” to be at least 35 minutes so I am not sure whether this one will count towards the 4 or not.

Today is a rest day. Well, sort of.  We will be in the truck for close to 7 hours total but there will also be brief spurts of heavy lifting, 2 couches, 2 beds, a dresser, etc. loaded and unloaded.  Humm, maybe it’s a two cup morning!

Gotta go buy a house!
